This is absolutely amazing, I can see where man other's get the White Glint from, I could just see that head tucking in behind the elongated chest during flight. Also really loving the gatling cannon, perfect for shredding enemy mechs during flight, haha.
Yeahh... I kinda thought it was impractical because on the previous design, if the waist bends forward, the chest area would prohibit movement as it blocks the front... Also, aesthetically speaking, a chest like the previous design which bends upwards requires a lot of room for joints and other unnecessary parts. If I simply kept it forward, there would be room in the front to house a part of the cockpit, which saves space. This was done mainly because I wanted to reduce the size of the mech significantly, which involved reducing over unnecessary parts to increase the cockpit size ratio as compared to the rest of the mech. This stratus is probably 3/5 of the size of the previous version.
So yeah I like this version much better than the previous, to say the least. It seems most people agree as well. I've made the new chest design to look like the beak of a bird, which is an important theme that I wanted to explore in the comic.
It's going to have a really strange walk, but I'm planning to add a production sketch explaining the function of the legs. See the pad at the back of the foot? I'm planning to have it come down with some wheels at the back to facilitate a "gliding" function. Imagine a parrot with skates , that would be what it looks like.
